  • 2013-2018: Elected President (2006-2013 Elected Vice-President, 1994-2005: Member of the Board of Governors) of CINI: Consorzio Interuniversitario Nazionale per l'Informatica a consortium of 44 Italian universities that do research in Computer Engineering & Computer Science, deliver BS/MS/PhD degrees, and are public funded).
  • 2020-today: Appointed as Italian Representative within the Civil Security for Society Sub-group of the EU Shadow Strategic Programme Committee of Horizon Europe - the Framework Programme for Research and Innovation.
  • 2012: Honored of the title "Doctor Honoris Causa" of the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca (Romania).
  • 2010-2014: Appointed Member of the Scientific Committee of the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (C.N.R.S.) (the French National Research Council), a government-funded research organization, under the administrative authority of France's Ministry of Research.
  • 2016-today: Member of the "Collegio Docenti" of the Gran Sasso Science Institute (GSSI): an international PhD school and a center for advanced studies in physics, mathematics, computer science and social sciences, in L'Aquila.
  • 2013-2018 Vice-Chair (and 2004-2012 Italian Representative) of the IFIP (International Federation for Information Processing) Technical Committee TC 10 - Computer Systems Technology aimed at "promoting the State-of-the-Art and the coordination of information exchange on concepts, methodologies, and tools in the stages in the life cycle of computer systems".
  • 2000-2003 Elected chair (and 1998-1999: Elected vice-chair) of the IEEE - Computer Society TTTC: Test Technology Technical Council.
  • 1996: Honored as Golden Core Member of IEEE Computer Society.
  • 2006-2010: Member of the Scientific & Technical Committee of CSI Piemonte, one of the largest Italian ICT operators in the public sector.
  • 2007-2008: Appointed by the Minister Prof. Luigi Nicolais, member of the "Commissione interministeriale permanente per l'impiego delle tecnologie ICT per le categorie deboli e svantaggiate"
  • 2001-2005: Elected chair of the Italian Gruppo di Ingegneria Informatica (G.I.I.)
